Resource Movement, a project on the Tides Canada shared platform, has a vision for a world where wealth and power are shared, and Indigenous land rights are respected. A world where all communities can tell their own stories, live well, and shape their own future. Our mission is to bring together young people with wealth and class privilege to become leaders working towards the equitable distribution of wealth, land and power. We work in solidarity with front-line movements and organizers, and mobilize through Chapters in cities across Canada. Resource Movement is a volunteer-led membership organization. We are inspired by a similar, chapter-based organization in the United States, called Resource Generation.
Resource Movement is hiring a summer staff position: a Member Engagement and Communications Coordinator, based in Montreal. This position will be responsible for supporting the development of a new CRM system, organizing a national member gathering event, helping to coordinate a national member drive, and contributing to ongoing communications work. This position will be directly supervised by a member of Resource Movement’s National Steering Committee, and will work in close partnership with members of the Montreal Chapter Leadership Team. This is an opportunity to help shape an emerging national project with ambitious goals for accelerating social justice organizing in Canada.
Contract duration: 7 weeks, July 9 - August 24 2018 (or as soon afterward as possible)

1) Support the development and implementation of a new constituent relationship management (CRM) system to coordinate member engagement
Work with members of the Steering Committee to migrate existing member data onto a new NationBuilder system, cleaning and organizing data to ensure a smooth transition
Help develop guidelines for RM member leaders to easily and effectively make use of the NationBuilder platform to increase our member engagement capabilities
2) Assist with the organization of a National Member Gathering event in Montreal from August 10-12
Work with a team of RM members to plan a collaborative agenda, with the goals of building momentum and skills for local and national organizing, and fostering community among members and movement advisors
Lead the coordination of logistics for the event (spaces, food, materials, etc)
Support with outreach and promotion to encourage attendance, and support members in planning their participation
3) Help coordinate a national member drive and peer consultation process
Participate in the planning process for a national member consultation to be carried out through 1-on-1 peer conversations as well as an on-line survey
Help to coordinate this process, ensuring every member is consulted thoroughly and effectively
Help to aggregate and synthesize member feedback
4) Contribute to ongoing communications work
Desired Qualifications (ideal, but not all required)
Skills & Experience
Strong written communication skills
Strong event planning and coordination skills
Experience using CRM systems (especially NationBuilder)
Experience with social media community management and mass emails
Strong administrative skills (including comfort using Google Drive)
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Bilingual: English & French, oral and written
Characteristics & Attributes
High level of comfort discussing class, wealth, and economic inequity; understanding of historical roots of acquisition of land, wealth and power
Personal drive to support the redistribution of resources toward historically oppressed/ marginalized communities
Non-judgmental approach to social justice work, open to engaging with people at a range of points on their journeys of (un)learning
Strong belief in the possibility and importance of cross-class collaboration for social and economic justice
Strong grounding in an anti-oppressive framework

must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
must have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year

must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
