Get Involved

Interested in Resource Movement?  Explore the many ways below from light-touch to super engaged!

STAY CURRENT:  NEWSLETTER SIGN-UP

The Resource Movement newsletter will keep you informed about what’s happening and how you can stay connected, with low commitment.  We publish once a month with lots of goodies so you can increase your involvement at your own pace.  Sign up to the newsletter at the bottom of RM’s homepage here.

SHARE, SUPPORT, AMPLIFY:  RAPID RESPONSE LIST

Resource Movement operates an opt-in email list, the Rapid Response Support List, which connects list recipients with time-sensitive asks for support from social justice organizers and members of marginalized communities. As of October 2020, the list has approximately 350 members and has moved $135,000 in support. Requests shared with the Rapid Response Support List members focus on addressing systemic change; centering the leadership of people impacted by the injustices they are fighting; and building power within marginalized communities. Get more info on what it is and how to contribute here.

ATTEND AN INFO SESSION ONLINE

The perfect starting point for new members... If you think you might like to get involved in Resource Movement’s efforts, join us at an upcoming online info session led by Resource Movement members and in community with other newbies. See the details on our Facebook page!

JOIN A LOCAL CHAPTER (OR START ONE IN ANOTHER PLACE)

Resource Movement has two active regional chapters in Montreal and Toronto. Resource Movement chapters are currently figuring out what they’ll look like while we’re virtual, but if you’re interested in getting on the email lists to hear about upcoming (virtual) meetups and ways to support local movements, get in touch with chapter organizers through their contact info at this doc.

PAIR UP WITH A RESOURCE MOVEMENT MEMBER TO DIVE RIGHT IN

If you're ready to jump in, new RM members can be matched with “support buddies” to personally help you think through how to make the most of your involvement with this network. It will help us connect you to our work and keep you up to date on events, resources, and opportunities across the country! Want more info on RM's Support Buddy program?  Click here and fill out the form below.

This sign-up form includes a bunch of questions about your identities and experiences. They are optional!  Please note that ALL information submitted in this form is confidential and will only be seen by Resource Movement's chapter leadership teams.  We're asking them in case you'd like us to take those things into account when matching you with a Support Buddy.

(If you run into any problems with the form, please email info[at]resourcemovement.org. Thanks!)

My - or my family’s - access to wealth puts me in roughly the following percentile of the Canadian economy*:

*Lots of people who are in the top 20% or higher economically believe that we’re “middle class”, because we compare ourselves to people who have more than us.  In answering this question, we encourage you to use these income percentile and wealth percentile calculators to find out where you and your family fit (and if that feels overwhelming, you can definitely just guess for now).

To be matched with a support buddy, would you rather be matched with someone who shares any of the following identities with you (check all that feel important, and make sure you shared your own info in the questions above for any boxes that you check - we can't guarantee a perfect match, but we'll do our best):

   Age

   Gender

   Sexual orientation

   Racial identity

   Access to wealth
