Leadership Development 1:1s

1:1 leadership development check-ins are one of the most important and powerful ways RM members build capacity within this movement, and take care of each other!  Ideally, each active member should do one of these check-ins every 6 months.

 

This page has everything you need to:

  • Figure out which members are due for a 1:1 check-in

  • Read up on the notes from their most recent 1:1

  • Refresh your memory around how to lead these check-ins

  • Take notes and log 1:1s as you complete them

Review 1:1 interview prompts:

  • How are you feeling about your RM involvement? What's awesome? What's challenging or frustrating?

    • Are there any additional supports that would make your RM engagement feel better (regular check-ins, training, more collaboration, additional resources, needs-based stipend, etc)?

  • Do you feel connected to other members of the movement right now? If not, what might help you feel more connected?

  • Are there specific skills (facilitation, writing, strategy, comms, tech, etc.) that you are hoping to practice or learn in the next 6 months?
     

  • If you’ve got energy to increase your engagement / take on more leadership or responsibility within RM, any ideas around what you’d most like to try?

    • What next steps do you want to take?

  • Are any aspects of your role(s) feeling unsustainable? If so, what should we do about that?

    • If you’re gonna be transferring any roles to other folks, do you want support?

  • Are there any new/different things you'd like to try doing within RM, that you haven't done yet?

    • Would you like any support exploring those possibilities?
