Meet us in Montreal: Youth Unconference @PFC17!

Updated: Jun 1

Youth Unconference @PFC17

We’re excited to announce Resource Movement’s very first public event: a collaborative afternoon gathering to explore how young people can create progressive change within Canadian philanthropy! The event is called the Youth Unconference @PFC17, and it will take place on October 17th as part of a symposium exploring how philanthropy can better listen to community partners. It’s being organized as a partnership between ourselves, the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative, and Philanthropic Foundations Canada (PFC - the host of the larger symposium).

The event will follow an “unconference”-style format, with input from opening speakers followed by flexible and self-organized group sessions. We’ll be delivering one of two opening presentations, which will focus on the need for philanthropic practices that prioritize the changemaking power of social justice movements - along with some exciting examples of what that can look like.

Our goal for this event is to set a tone for young people’s participation in the sessions that follow, and to create a bridge between the symposium and Montreal’s social justice organizing community. The next day’s sessions are quite restrictive in terms of access, but our event is open to all young people (~15-35ish) who are engaged in philanthropy and social change work across class and sector - and anyone who registers for our session will also be welcome at the symposium’s opening plenary and reception that evening.

If you’d like to join us, you can register for free right here. And of course, if you have any questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to give us a shout: info@resourcemovement.org
