Summer Member Gathering: Join us in Montréal!

Updated: Jun 1

We are so excited about this summer! After several years of organizing separately in small groups, we’re preparing our first ever National Member Gathering… and we really hope you’ll join us.

National Member Gathering… what’s that?

This event will be an opportunity to connect with Resource Movement’s constituents, advisors, and partners from across the country. We’ll do some deep exploration of the forces shaping wealth inequality in Canada, reflect on where we fit within struggles for liberation, build skills and knowledge for taking action, and set priorities for RM’s collective next steps. It’s gonna be beautiful, messy, loving, challenging, powerful, and FUN.

The programming for this gathering is being co-created by Resource Movement’s leadership team, advisors, and participants. Get in touch if you’d like more details on the emerging agenda, and/or you’re interested in helping to shape it!

Where and when is this happening?

This year’s gathering will take place in Montréal, from August 10-12. It begins at 6pm on Friday, August 10th, and ends at 3pm on Sunday, August 12th.

Who should attend? Who will be there?

  • Do you identify as a young person (18-40) with access to class privilege and/or wealth*?

  • Are you committed to working towards a more just and equitable society?

  • Do you want to do this work collectively with other young people with wealth / class privilege, anchored in relationships to grassroots social movements?

  • Are you eager to spend less energy hiding / feeling paralyzed by your privilege, and more energy leveraging it for economic, racial, and social justice?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this gathering is for you!

Whether you’ve been organizing with Resource Movement for years already, or you’re just learning about our work for the first time, this event will offer a powerful space for all of us to learn, grow, and share.

We’re so glad you asked! This cute little document has some more info, and will be updated as details are confirmed. Our phenomenal Summer Member Engagement & Communications Coordinator, Carm Ng, will be working over the next month to make this magic happen… and they can’t wait to answer all your questions. Send them an email at

*Having access to wealth and/or class privilege can look very different for each of us. If this statement feels true for you, that’s all you need. If you’re not sure, and you’d like to look at some numbers, you can use one of these calculators to see if you or your family of origin are roughly in the top 20% by financial net wealth or income (this is the cutoff figure many people use to define “upper middle class”, but it’s by no means scientific - again, you are the expert on your own experience):
